Programme:

United went straight on the attack and Peter Maguire watched as his shot produced a fine save from the Ossett keeper. After Town had twice gone close it was United that took the lead in the sixteenth minute. A Grenville Shorte free-kick was was headed on by Peter Maguire and Peter Mumby sent a header that looped over the keeper and into the net from twelve yards. Jeremy Smith replaced Darren Edmonds at Outside Left, after twenty-nine minutes. Less than a minute later Town drew level as Radford scored with a fine solo goal. The level scores did not last long, just three minutes later Vince Brockie got in a cross from the right and Peter Maguire scored with a powerful header. United's third goal arrived on the hour when after Peter Mumby had been brought down in the box, Vince Brockie scored from the spot. In the final minute Justin Sumner was the subject of a strong challenge from Cec Podd and that cauded him to miss several subsequent fixtures. The unused Leeds substitutes were goalkeeper Neil Edwards, Steve Nicholson, Wayne Jackson, Lee Stephens, Russell Wigley and Simon Old.
